Thermal analysis (TA) is a group of analytical techniques that measure properties or property changes of materials as a function of temperature. These techniques are mainly applied for the characterization and investigation of structure decomposition, thermal stability, and phase transition. Many TA methods have been developed for a variety of examination purposes and are distinguished from one another by the property they measure. The mostly used TA techniques for materials characterization are differential thermal analysis (DTA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).
