Abstract

Optical properties such as color, translucency and surface gloss are critical factors in determining the esthetics of dental materials. Therefore, it is very important to understand the basics of optical measurement instruments. This review provides a simple introduction to the basic concepts for measurement of color, translucency, and gloss.
