Abstract

Dental pulp-capping is done to preserve vital teeth when the pulp is exposed due to caries, trauma or instrumentation. Various materials are used as pulp-capping agent. The development of materials, techniques and knowledge of the dentin-pulp complex has gradually affecting its results positively. Nowadays, there are many direct and indirect pulp capping materials. Some, present for more than 50 years, like calcium hydroxide. Others, such as Biodentine or MTA, which are very recent, show promising results.
