Abstract

Common reason for restorations failure is secondary caries, which are mainly caused by oral bacteria. In recent years, numerous research studies have been conducted with the common goal of developing a dental restorative material to be used to eradicate the microbial infection and the cause of dental caries. Today, the manufacture and use of biomaterials with antimicrobial effects in medical and dental treatment plans is rapidly progressing. Therefore, manufacturing products containing antimicrobial agents or applying antimicrobial coatings on different material has become an interesting topic for research in the dental field.
